Skillfuls / Masters Coaches

Accomplished, Passionate Ski Teachers

The SKILLFULS coaches are all accomplished, passionate ski teachers, with many years of coaching experience.

All are PSIA certified with great skiing credentials, and most with the highest level of PSIA certification attainable. Best of all, they are all fellow members at the Club.

Following is a brief snippet of each coach.

Gordy Brewster

Program Coordinator & Coach

Heads up the Skillfuls Program. He mixes clear, easily understood technical exercises for an all-mountain learning experience. Gordy has been a coach for Skillfuls since the beginning of the program. Days: 978-526-4395 • 978-526-4395; Nights: 617-233-6746 • 617-233-6746; [email protected]

Sandy Deitch

PSIA Certification Level III

Sandy has been a KSC Skillfuls coach for 16 years.  Prior to that, instructed at Blue Hills, Gunstock and Sugarbush. Former race coach for Clarkstown HS ski team.  Enjoys race style carving and bumps.  She keeps current with contemporary ski techniques by participating in continuing ed and PSIA Masters academies yearly.  Her focus is on skill development through drills, movement analysis and skiing varied terrain.  Fast paced all mountain group with the main goal of enjoying the sport we are passionate about.

Bryan Hopkins

PSIA Certification Level III

Bryan is also a USSA Certified Alpine Coach and Certified Alpine Official. He has over 25 years of coaching experience in the east and far west regions. Here at Killington he coached athletes aged 10 through 18 for 12 years with the KSC/KMS Development Programs as his sons were coming up the ranks and has spent the last 5 years working with adults in the KSC Skillfuls Program. Several of the athletes he coached went on to achieve success with the US Ski Team. Almost all of his athletes continued on to compete in top collegiate programs at the NCAA Division 1 level, and in the USCSA ranks with one recently becoming a Warren Miller Films athlete as well.  Bryan is focused on improving the overall technical skiing and racing skills of the higher-level participants in our Skillfuls Program. He will help you become a more efficient and dynamic skier in all conditions from big mountain powder chutes, to bumps, to off piste backcountry, to hard ice conditions and also in the race course.

Beth Ellen Hopkins

PSIA Certification Level I

Beth Ellen has had many years of coaching experience, in NH, CA and VT. She also skied on PSU’s ski team while in college. She has been an Assistant High School Ski Team coach at North Andover High School. Here at Killington, Beth Ellen has coached the KSC/adults in the KSC Skillfuls Program for the last 8 years.

Doug Paulding

PSIA Certification Level I, USSA Alpine Coach

Doug brings abundant energy to a “follow me” approach. Has coached skiing and ski racing in VT, MA, NY and CT since the 70’s. He pushes the boundaries of high speed skiing, carving, bumps and jumps, on the most difficult (and sometimes the easiest) terrain on the mountain  

Nancy McGrath

PSIA Alpine Certification Level II

Nancy, with a Child Specialist 2 endorsement and 30+ years teaching and coaching skiing at Mohawk, Okemo and the KSC Skillfuls program. PSIA clinics and freeskiing with friends in New England, out West, Europe and South America keep it fresh and challenging. Keeping up with her ex-racer daughter is an added incentive.

Nancy leads her group of open parallel, athletic skiers to more dynamic, advanced skiing through a combination of terrain exploration, technical skill development and individualized movement analysis and goal setting.  Join her if you want to go beyond the blues to ski blacks, bumps and trees with greater confidence and skill in an encouraging and fun environment.

George de Luna

PSIA Certification Level II

George has been a committed skier for many years, and a season pass holder at Killington since 1990.  He is an all mountain skier who likes to master all terrain in all conditions. George has skied with 3 of the 4 people pictured in the club, Chuck Martin, Bobby Aldeghari and Donna Weinbrecht as well as Doug Combes and Scott Schmidt. I have skied all over the world including South America, New Zealand, Europe and Canada as well as all over the USA.  He loves to ski and use skills as well as tactics to master the mountain. He is a telemark skier and a beginner snowboarder.

George has worked for Killington as a ski instructor since 1997, and also worked for The Hidden Valley Club in NJ for 3 seasons, and most recently with the Killington Ski Club since 2014 and a PSIA member for 20 years.  His focus is to give people the skills they need for the conditions of the day, and, the skills needed for the trails they want to ski, with a big emphasis to ski a lot and have fun!

Chris Clark

PSIA Level III, USSA Level 400 Coach, USSA Level 3 Official

Chris has been skiing and coaching for 40 years, he resides in Killington with his wife Susan and 3 boys.  On his days off, he is a Commercial Pilot.  Chris is a Killington Ski Club President Emeritus and current Board member.
