Scholarship Fund

Assisting in an athlete’s development.

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Since it’s founding in 2012, in 9 years, the KSC Scholarship Fund and the Matt Harnett Memorial Fund have financially supported over 230 weekend Development Program athletes and provided over $235,000 to provide these young athletes an opportunity to train and compete in all disciplines. Without the generosity of the KSC membership and other individuals, these athletes would not have been able to participate in our weekend Development Programs, travel, and compete in higher-level events across the country and overseas. (KMS full-time athlete scholarships are funded by KMS, and separate from the KSC Scholarship fundraising efforts.)

The KSC Scholarship Committee is continually striving to support larger numbers of weekend Development Program participants, and bring more young athletes into the sport. One of our athletes last season summed it up in this thank you note to us this past season; “Thank you for once again helping me and my family out. Each year, this scholarship has helped tremendously and is the reason that I’m able to compete throughout the whole season. We are beyond thankful for all of your help.” The KSC Scholarship Committee will continue to do our best to support our young athletes in pursuit of their dreams this season, and in season’s to come.

Matt Harnett Memorial Foundation Information

KSC coach Matt Harnett passed away on November 19th, 2012. At the club, Matt was best known for his love of skiing, sense of humor and outstanding rapport with the young athletes he loved to coach.

To honor Matt and his contributions to the Hopefuls and Alpine Stars Programs over the many years he coached our young athletes, the Matt Harnett Memorial Foundation has been established. The Memorial Race is our primary fundraising event and held each season in memory of Matt and our other coaches who have left us all to early, most recently Ed Carey in 2018. The monies are raised through charitable donations and provide our younger athletes opportunities to participate in the KSC/KMS Development Programs.

Some of our athletes would not have been able to achieve success and make it to the highest levels of the sport without the financial support of the Killington Ski Club.

The Killington Ski Club community of athletes and families provides the charitable donations to make continuing financial support of our athletes possible. The club has been, and always will be committed to the development of our athletes and providing as much financial support as possible to those in need to help them participate in our KSC/KMS Development Programs.
