The Killington Ski Club and Killington Mountain School have formed a partnership to operate the Club’s weekend and three-day alpine, freestyle and snowboard programs this winter. The new owners of Killington wanted to divest themselves of the competitive programs and after looking at all the options, the Ski Club board felt that joining forces with Killington Mountain School would enable us to offer the best program at the most reasonable cost. The new owners of Killington will retain the Hopefuls program and will incorporate it into the Ski School.

The new program will be known as KSC/KMS Junior Competition Program. Our plan is to increase and strengthen the coaching staff, enhance communication between coaches and families, and provide a fun and competitive program for your children. The KSC/KMS Junior Competition Program will be directed by Matt Gnoza. Many of you know Matt through his long-time association with the Club as the Head Freestyle Coach. He has extensive coaching experience and has effectively managed the weekend freestyle groups as will as multiple summer camp programs. We are confident that Matt will capably direct and manage the new weekend and three-day programs. Matt will be assisted on the alpine side by Tim Curran, KMS Head J3 Coach, who will help to set up and organize the alpine programs.

The KMS/KSC Junior Competition Program will secure liability insurance through the United State Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA). A requirement of this insurance is that every participant be an active member of USSA. Athletes may not participate in the programs until an active membership status has been confirmed. To join USSA go to www.ussa.org, under “Membership Tools” on the bottom right, click on “USSA and FIS Applications” to download an application. We recommend that you complete this process right away because as we approach the season USSA can take up to a month to process memberships.

The program descriptions and fees will be finalized within the next week. You will receive this information and registration materials by mail and or email by October 1. Additional information and registration forms will also be available at the Columbus Day Ski Sale October 5-7. If you have questions, please email Matt Gnoza.
