Dear Killington Ski Club Members, September 2007

As President, and on behalf of our Board of Directors, I welcome you all back for another winter season! The Killington Ski Club was founded in 1962, and is now over 45 years old. Our commitment to our mission is as strong now as it was then, and we remain dedicated to the support of our athletes in our competitive programs, as well as supporting programs and activities for our general membership. My family and I have been members now for many years, and I can’t think of anyplace I would rather spend a winter day than being on the mountain with our friends from the Killington Ski Club. It is this spirit of community, athletic competition, and an active winter sports lifestyle that makes our ski club a very desirable place to be, and an integral part of our lives.

It is a time of significant changes for the Killington Ski Club and Killington. As you may know, the Killington assets, including the ski area, were purchased last spring by an investor group and are now run by Powdr Inc. Powdr is an experienced operator of ski areas that plans to make Killington as attractive to skiers as their other premier resorts such as Park City in Utah and Mt Bachelor in Oregon. It is especially exciting for the Club because our efforts to expand our building have received terrific support and our efforts to move all of our competitive programs under full control of the Club have been negotiated, and finalized with the Powdr management team. The Club, and the Killington Mountain School have been working on full program integration for several years now, and Powdr Inc has agreed to implement a plan similar to one the previous management of Killington was in the final steps of approving last season. There will be a rise in fees for the programs this year as Powdr will increase the Hopefuls fees, and the Club now has to take on the burden of costly additional insurance for the competitive programs which will now run under our full control and management. There is more information about that contained in the joint KSC/KMS letter describing the KSC/KMS Junior Competition Program as part of the KSC member sign-up information package available on the KSC website.

The Corp will continue to operate the Hopefuls program which will be based out of our Club building but will operate the Hopefuls under the management of the ski school. In addition, the Club now will offer a competitive Development or “Devo” program including J6 Alpine and Freestyle programs which would start at age 8. Therefore, parents will have a choice to put their children either in the less competitive Saturday only Hopefuls program$799 or the more intense Saturday and Sunday Competitive Devo Program for $750. All other competitive and recreational programs will now be run and managed by the Club and KMS.

In other news, your club dues have been hard at work this summer on projects led by several board members: Our building has again undergone a lot of summer maintenance and upgrades, the ski sale is under new direction with the retirement of Steve Foley after many, many years of successfully building our ski sale to the #5 sale in the nation Johnny O is heading up our ski sale this year, and can use your help johnnyo@alpinetrainingcenter.com or 802-422-6797. There has been a lot of work completed on the future design and architectural plans for the upgrade and expansion of our facilities, and the communications team has also been upgrading the Club web site as well.

The traditional fall mailing has been streamlined to a reminder mailer that directs you to our website for as much information as you will need. Please click on www.killingtonskiclub.com to find all the details and also download forms you need to enroll in the programs of your choice. Please complete and return these forms as soon as possible to ensure your place in the programs for this winter.

In closing, thank you for your membership in the Killington Ski Club, and have another great winter season skiing and riding with us!

Sincerely,

Kerry Malone
